As the aroma of homemade cranberry sauce lingers in my kitchen, the thought occurs to me how thankful I am for the unprecedented President Barack Obama and the bumbling Democrats who support his agenda. Hang in there for a minute, patriots! I am thinking about all we Americans have to be thankful for, and for patriots, it’s a lot.
- Thankful for our Armed Forces, who risk their lives to keep our country safe.
- Thankful for our Founding Fathers, who forged our Constitution.
- Thankful for our Republic, which, despite the blows it is taking from politicians and Pres. Obama, stands strong.
- Thankful for our faith and trust in God, whom we lean on in these difficult times.
- Thankful for Pres. Obama’s missteps, and for the Democratic leadership, which as a whole is ignoring its bosses, the American people.
The last item may seem a silly thing to be grateful for, but I thank God that Obama and the Democratic leadership seem h*ll bent on a course that will allow for a huge upset in the 2010 elections.
As Americans watch in dismay as Obama continues to bow to world leaders, throw huge parties at the White House at taxpayer expense, postpone his decision on more troops to Afghanistan, allow AG Eric Holder to try terrorists in New York City’s court system (why would we want to give terrorists the full rights in a trial we citizens enjoy?) and spend more money than any U.S. president ever, all in his first year in office, Obama continues checking off his wish list.
That wish list apparently includes putting the U.S. military between a rock and a hard place. Three Navy Seals who reportedly captured a highly sought after terrorist are rewarded by facing criminal charges, for allegedly giving a terrorist a bloated lip. WTH is going on? I’m sorry, but I don’t think a fat lip constitutes any criminal charges whatsoever, do you? Charging these three Navy Seals serves to not only anger all those who serve or have served in the military, it shocks American patriots, and sends messages of conflict and weakness around the globe.
Thankfully, the American people are not weak. Their message has been clear to Washington leaders.
Unfortunately, while the message has been strong and clear, many Senators and Representatives liberal in beliefs have continued to vote Obama’s agenda into law. The corruption of some politicians is clear to ordinary Americans. We know some votes are being bought. However, like small children who think their parents don’t know what is actually going on, our Congressional leaders continue to do what they want.
No matter. The 2010 elections will make clear that American patriots ‘have teeth.’ Seems many in Washington pushing Obama’s agenda have forgotten their way. Pride cometh before a fall.
My warmest thanks go out to all you patriots who continue to work tirelessly to save our country.

Is there a common sense booster shot? If so, some U.S. Congressmen need to get one.
We’ll be paying higher taxes for the pricey Health Care Reform if it passes, but the Health Care plan won’t kick in until 2013? Whaaaat?
I know, you think it’s crazy talk, but unfortunately that’s how Sen. Max Baucus wrote the Health Care Reform bill.
Isn’t this idea a lot like paying out the nose for a ballooning credit card bill, but not even being able to enjoy the goodies you bought with your credit card? Good grief, what is in the water up on that Congressional Hill in Washington, D.C.?
The claim that Health Care Reform will be deficit neutral or actually save the US money? The Cato Institute’s Michael F. Cannon debunks those claims and points out that Baucus’ Bill will cost our country more than $2 Trillion.
How? A lot of fudged numbers by the government, and ’white lies’, that’s how.
Not to mention that the way the bill is written, the aim really seems to be getting everyone on to the public ‘option.’ You think there’s going to actually be an ‘option’ long-term? Hmmm. I don’t think so. Do you?
You think this is going to go over well with Americans? I don’t know what you think. But I think this plan of paying higher taxes for four years before getting the goods you’re paying for is completely idiotic.
The only silver lining I see is that this laughable idea will almost certainly get many, many Americans very mad. And that 2010 election next year? There will be some very surprised Congressmen. You know, those Congressmen who are in denial about their angry constituents. You know, the ones who keep getting record amounts of emails, letters and phone calls from the people they represent, communications telling them to stop the marathon spending of tax dollars? Yes, I’m talking about the Congressmen who think the ‘angry mob’ will just go away! Remember those Democrats who have been running up our national debt with wasteful bills, and the few Republicans who have joined in the spending orgy?
Can we boot them out? Yes we can!
Just think, once the Congressmen are booted, they’ll feel the pain of their carefully crafted Health Care Reform. Unless they’re smart enough to listen to their constituents. It’ll be interesting to see what happens, won’t it?

It’s legal, but House Speaker Nancy Pelosi doesn’t like it. Citizens have been voicing their concerns about health care reform and other hot button issues to their Representatives at Town Hall meetings recently. Unfortunately, a few protestors of Health Care Reform were injured and some arrested at town hall meetings yesterday in St. Louis, Mo. and Tampa, Fla. At the Tampa town hall where U.S. Rep. Kathy Castor (D-FL) spoke, crowd chants of “You work for us!” and “Open Door Policy!” and “Hear our voice!” went on for some time at the public meeting. Once you see and read the details, you may wonder what exactly happened, how some people got hurt, and why the police made arrests.
Town halls have become something those opposed to Health Care Reform have recognized as a way to make their voices better heard. But will voices be heard, if Town Hall meetings are not held?
As the U.S. Senate wraps up its work August 7 and goes on break, some U.S. senator’s offices polled yesterday were keeping details of Town hall meetings close to the vest.
Perhaps some of the closed-mouth attitude was due to some U.S. Representatives who have been surprised by upset constituents questioning them on Health Care Reform at town halls. Many have seen the YouTube video of Sen. Arlen Specter’s recent town hall meeting, in which an uproar arose when Sen. Specter said the Health Care Reform bill was so big, but it’s divided up and… “we have to make judgements very fast.” He added after the crowd roared in disapproval that “Every bill is read slowly and understood by me before I vote.” Does that include the stimulus bill, too, Sen. Specter?
Having read most of the Health Care Reform bill, I had big concerns: 1) How are we were going to pay for it? 2) Abortion is included (is that health care?) 3) Health care will be rationed 4) The disabled and elderly seemed to be headed for very rationed care and possibly euthanasia, and 5) The way it is written, most companies will dump their employees into the public health care plan because it will be too costly to keep private health insurance.
After calling one of my senators, Bill Nelson (D-FL), and asking his office when he was holding a Town Hall meeting, I was asked for my name, address, and phone number so that I could possibly attend if he hosts a Town Hall. Shocked that my senator might not be having a Town Hall, considering the biggest change to Health Care is being considered when Congress returns in September, I decided to conduct an unscientific but fair poll.
Senators from Blue States and Red States were called, picked randomly, and asked whether they were having a regular, in-person Town Hall meeting, a phone conference Town Hall meeting, or were unsure because plans had not been finalized in that regard yet.
Perhaps due to the number of people who have shown up recently to Town Halls and vociferously announced their opinions to their Representatives, some senators’ plans had not been finalized, and a few spokespeople did not return calls by press time.

Health care reform has been a very hot topic among constituents in a number of states. Health care listening sessions are going to be held across the state of North Dakota, said Chris Gaddie, spokesperson for Sen. Kent Conrad (D-ND). The ‘health care listening sessions’ will be held in person, not via phone, Gaddie said.
A couple states over, in Idaho, Sen. Mike Crapo (R) has gotten an earful on Health Care Reform from his constituents. “He’s certainly heard loud and clear” what most constituents want, and it’s not the public option, said Lindsay Nothern, Sen. Crapo’s spokesperson. He added that Sen. Crapo would be available for this recess. During last month’s Town Hall conference call, almost the whole call was on health care, Nothern noted.
As the Senate’s break begins and some Town Halls are held (or not held), it will be interesting to see how senators and representatives alike handle hearing from their constituents. And since the White House is handing out advice on the best way to handle Town Halls, I expect that the break — is going to be a hot one.

How would you like the government to reduce what you live on yearly, kill a vast number of jobs in America, all in hopes of reducing the temperature of the earth by two-tenths of a degree by 2099?
According to Ben Lieberman of the Heritage Foundation, a family of four will experience the following due to the consequences of the Cap and Trade bill, which passed the U.S. House of Representatives on June 26 and now goes to the U.S. Senate:
- $436 average increase in energy costs in 2012
- $1,241 energy bill in 2035
- Electricity costs will increase by 90% by 2035
- Gasoline costs to increase 58% by 2035
- Natural Gas costs to increase by 55% by 2035
- Total cost of Waxman-Markey to family of four: $2,979/year from 2012-2035.
- The energy costs spike to more than $4,600 by 2035.
“The cumulative higher energy costs for a family of four by then (2035) will be nearly $20,000,” Ben Lieberman, senior policy analyst for the Heritage Foundation, said in testimony before a Senate Republican Conference recently.
Wow. I think most American families can use $20,000 more productively than the government is proposing with its Cap and Trade energy tax bill. What would you do with the $20,000 the government is planning to take from you during the years 2012-2035? Not only that, but FoxNews reported on June 29 that that the Environmental Protection Agency has reportedly ‘intentionally buried’ a study that calls into question the claims that global warming is a problem.
“My view is…there is not currently any reason to regulate carbon dioxide. Global temperatures are roughly where there were in the mid-20th century,” according to Alan Carlin, author of EPA study of climate change.
Because the Cap and Trade bill is so expansive in its energy taxation, Mr. Lieberman predicts net job loss, and notes that some jobs will disappear on the domestic front, only to show up overseas in countries that are friendlier to businesses.
“Beyond the cost impact on individuals and households, Waxman-Markey also affects employment, and especially employment in the manufacturing sector. We estimate job losses averaging 1,145,000 at any given time from 2012-2035. And note that those are net job losses, after the much-hyped green jobs are taken into account. Some of the lost jobs will be destroyed entirely, while others will be outsourced to nations like China and India that have repeatedly stated that they’ll never hamper their own economic growth with energy-cost boosting global warming measures like Waxman-Markey.”
To add to the pain, farmers will be hard hit by the Cap and Trade bill. After all, farming is by its nature a large energy consumer; think of all the farming equipment used to produce a large number of crops very efficiently. And the poor, as well as those who live in more rural areas, will experience a disproportionately larger share of the energy tax through what they pay for energy use, and what they buy at the store. Companies will of course, pass on their new energy tax to the consumer; we’ll see higher prices on items across the board.
“In addition, because the bill raises energy costs, it hurts rural America much more than urban America. Rural Americans, farmers and non-farmers, spend an average of 58 percent more on energy as a percentage of income than their urban counterparts, and those costs would go up.”
That Darn Republican posted a great piece on Cap and Trade on his blog today, noting:
“Cap & Trade will turn out to be [if passed] the single most wantonly destructive piece of legislation to come from Capitol Hill since Roe vs. Wade. House Resolution 2454 proposes some of the most sweeping and radical pro-special interest infested regulation we’ve ever had to face in our lifetimes. Did we ask for these regulations? Were there throngs of the dissatisfied so beholden and mesmerized by California Air Quality Management District [AQMD] standards that we felt we had to repress the economies of every other state in the union by having them imposed? The answer is an emphatic no. The State of California has been one thing and one thing only… it has been a leader in breeding a culture of out-and-out legislative and cultural dissidence.”
I’m still wondering why the U.S. House of Representatives passed an energy tax which will punish businesses and individuals for their energy use. Do our politicians really represent our wishes and our best interests in Washington, D.C.? Seems like some politicians need to be reminded that they represent the citizens of America, not Al Gore or the ‘green’ special interest groups.
The Cap and Trade bill is now being considered in the U.S. Senate. The trickle-down consequences of Cap and Trade: It kills jobs and decreases everyone’s spending power. This energy tax will possibly reduce the temperature of the earth by two-tenths of a degree by 2099? And there is an EPA study stating that global warming is NOT a problem? This is madness.
Have you called your senators yet to tell them you want them to vote NO on Cap and Trade?
